Happy Lunar New Year Everyone!
With the NEW MOON of Friday, January 24th, 2020 at 1:42 pm PST we come to the FULL and COMPLETE annual energetic reset!—which would explain why the many cultures that align to the energetics of nature would consider this the OFFICIAL New Year’s Day 😄
As I mentioned in the previous article of January 14th, we entered into a new chapter when the Sun made its first transmigration into a new sign since its “rebirth” at the Winter Solstice. However, for our experience here on Earth, nothing happens without the undercurrents created by the Moon, and so, the reset is not complete until BOTH the Sun and Moon have made their debuting movements in sequence. The energetic significance of this new moon was most notably honored by the ancient Chinese, and thus is very commonly known as “Chinese New Year,” but, of course, it is also known as “Lunar New Year,” for it is celebrated by many cultures who remain connected to their traditional, shamanistic roots (albeit only slightly for some).
Every new moon brings with it the opportunity for fresh beginnings, new starts, and is brimming with the energy of increase, growth, and adventure, but this new moon additionally holds the opportunity to set your annual momentum. Thus, these next few days will be a time ripe for you to set intentions for the rest of your year, BEGIN NEW PROJECTS & REGIMES, try new things, go on adventures, conduct important ceremonies, as well as to clear out space energetically in your life to make room for the new.
If you haven’t done so already this week during the waning phase, these next few days are a great time to clean and tidy your home, bringing in a feeling of freshness, openness, and clarity. You may even want to purge old items from the previous year(s) that you no longer need and are creating clutter in your space—but please do so mindfully, honoring their presence in your life 🙏. Working with incense or essential oils are also a great way to bring a sense of cleansing and clarity into your home and mind space. Some examples are: cedar, cypress, cinnamon, clove, dragon’s blood, frankincense, lavender, myrrh, sage, sandalwood. The scents that you like best will be the ones that will be most effective in your cleansing ritual.
In the January 14th article, I also mentioned that the last 10 days since then was a time to reflect on the foundations of your life, to examine your ROOT, which may include “assessing your budget, routines, and priorities to ensure that the foundations of your life are strong—that you have access to optimal sources of nourishment, warmth and safety, and a sense of personal well-being. And this means also being careful not to neglect the most important basic need: your health.” Your reflections and observations of these past 10 days will be the most revealing about the issues and work that not only need your immediate attention, but that will propel you forward in the most optimal way. Meaning, if you set your intentions to these issues and work, you will be setting yourself on the path of your highest growth at this time.
Also, since January 14th, we have entered into the realm and themes of Saturn ruled CAPRICORN, which indicates that this is a time to WORK. The work that we put in now to fortify the foundations in our home life, health, relationships, and career (life’s work) through a reassessment of our routines, priorities, and spending (budget), will allow us to have more peace of mind and set us up for a more productive year.
It is a time to take a break from the social scene to focus on your household affairs, home life, personal work and reflection. Time with yourself, on yourself and your life. So rather than putting off your personal work, NOW is the time. This is a time to focus your attention to yourself and what your needs are in a REAL way, meaning by putting in the time, effort, energy, resources, and focused presence into this area. (from the January 14th article)
This is also a very auspicious time to work with the element of fire to support you as you transition into a new course and adventures. The fire element is the element of transformation as it helps ignite our ability to move forward with passion, inspiration, clarity, and power. A fire ceremony can be used to help both “burn” away those things that no longer serve you as you move into this new year of life, as well as ignite your courage, strength, determination, and vision as you move forward boldly into new ways of being.
Bottomline: With this being the official new year, now is the time to set your new course in motion. And to help you on your way, allow yourself to shed, release, and cleanse yourself and your space of those things that no longer serve you on your path, allowing space for the new to enter into your life. This may mean taking some time away from the social scene to focus on amending your approach to your household affairs and your health that the foundations of your life become a stable platform upon which you can disembark into new territories and ways of being. Take some time in the next few days to clarify your intentions for this year and create a flexible routine through which you can begin to manifest your goals and your dreams, and then roll up your sleeves and get ready to WORK in Saturn’s way—“slow and steady, steady and slow, every time, every day, for the rest of your life.”
Blessings on your new year my friend,
Jane Oka Kaya Shin
